Mother's Day at Waimarama

For Mother's Day (or Mum's Day in NZ speak) I went to Emma's parents house at Waimarama. Emma's dad, Murray, manages a beautiful farm - rolling hills of paddocks that overlook the Bay. There are over 6,000 sheep and a variety of breeds of cows. The festivities included Emma and myself, her parents - Murray and Barbara, her sister Angela and her husband Mike, their two children Lachie and Cam, and her sister Jenny and her husband Nick, and their two children Monte and Bea. Everyone was so wonderful at welcoming me into their family which made it a bittersweet day of missing sharing Mother's Day with my own Mom and Grandma back home in Indiana. I got a motorbike tour of the farm, introduced to the chickens, and ate my first lamb roast. I hope you enjoy the pictures!

Emma and I enjoy fresh eggs instead of those "store-bought" ones.

The motorbike tour took me to the highest point on the
hills where I was greeted by a beautiful view of
the coast and Waimarama Beach - a Kiwi summer hotspot.

The beautiful coast

Lachie - my motorbike tour guide and official
gate opener. We would not have had a smooth
trip without his expertise! Lachie is Grandpop's
best helper on the farm.

Opposite view from the top of the hill. The red-topped building
you see is a 9-bedroom vacation home for sale.
Any takers?
